Winter's been late arriving this year, but arrive it has, with (sleigh) bells on! This information will be old-hat to you if you're in the UK, but to those reading this overseas - we've got snow and LOTS of it, tonight is meant to drop to -12 here in Yorkshire, and it's been like this for over a week!
Now, whilst this is no big deal to the Canadians, Norwegians or Icelandians (?) it's a big freakin' deal to me - I'm over it, for the time being at least.
This is my 20th winter as a North Sea surfer, and most of those have been spent suffering from Raynaud's which sucks balls if you're a cold-water-monkey! That said, I'm usually like a full-on surf-stoked grom at the merest mention of winter juice - but not this year.
Dunno why. I'm just not feeling it. It'll come back. Maybe it's just because we've not had anything that's looked like a classic yet, at least not while we were snow-free, or I was able to attend, last week it was all I could do to leave the house the snow was so deep.
So. I think it might be time for an evening of celluloid-surf-stoke-reinvention. Think I'll start here...
